A lovely Re-entry

Image
Its been a long time since I decided to leave my family for two amazing years of studying in Oregon.  Three weeks ago  I was spending time with a very special people saying goodbyes to who had become brothers and sisters of my family. I realized how hard is to be the center of attention in a farewell party. The most meaningful and sad party I ever had. There was a huge mix  of emotions in my mind. I was so so happy to see my family again, however I was sad because I had to leave lots of great people, who helped me to grow professional and personal. I know now that I am about to begin a new adventure of my life. My SEED journey begins now by giving back what Ive gotten from all the people involved in the SEED Program (Scholarship for Education and Economic Development)  I Marta Romero will never ever forget all of my SEED friends. I will keep all of them in my heart. And I am more than sure of seeing you all again. I will always love you all.       ...

Compost Bin Building !  Compost Bin Final Result :) This just one more way to help our environment of decaying because of our behaviors with garbage storage.

Composting Bin Group

Image
We decided as a group to build a compost bin because we think is just an amazing idea to give to the soil of what we have taken from it. There is no way of doing better with our organic waste than doing compost instead of throw them away.  We own it !  "It is our garbage, Our money that will become our Oro Negro" Bill Becker said.  We started to cut some pieces of wood for making the base to hold the compost bin because we are still trying to find our barrel.

Composting Worshop Trip

We went as an entire class to two different where people  are doing compost.  We went first to an industrial scale. Those guys had a huge pile of compost. Some of them were saying it did take about five months to decompose and return back into the soil. This was just another small scale of doing some composting pile with such as different use. This girl did not sell her soil out her compost. She uses as a fertilizer for her vegetable garden.

Premaculture : is a better way of doing agriculture in a food forest or small farm scale. in order to do it correctly we should follow up twelve principles and some ethics   Before of having this presentation  I thought that premaculture was the same thing than agriculture but now I can say the they aren't.  I leaned that there will be a lot of ways to solve a problem we just have to look for the solutions with an opening mind.  Financial  Economic : with this topic I found out that as a commitment makers, we need to have a sustainable project. Because  we cant  build a project based on economic dependency if we are planning to do that it is not going to work. I learned that we should never give anything away for free, that dependency relationships are unhealthy, and we also need to have cultural, technological, emotional and economical self sustainability in our community base project.
